Because of the quarantine, I thought makakatipid na ako sa gastos because we do not go out of the house during the weekends to make pasyal.
Hindi pala.
Since the ECQ, lumakas ako sa grocery. I do not understand why Alvin and Anika are always hungry. Whenever I but groceries, ubos agad. If ubos na ang grocery and they get hungry, I’d order food sa labas. After a few weeks, I became always hungry too. Nakakahawa pala ang gutom, mga bakla. I gained 10 lbs.
Magastos na, nakakataba pa.
I realized also that even though it’s quarantine, hindi ako nauubusan ng bibilihin. Actually, nadagdagan pa because face masks, alcohols and face shields all became a staples na in our stash. Well, except for alcohol, na talaga naman may stock ka dapat.
And so I limit my mall trips para mabawasan ang gastos. However, kamusta Shopee naman and online shopping. Not to mention yung mga friendships natin diyan na selling things na need natin i-support.
ALVIN: May tao sa gate, Babe.
I go out.
ALVIN: Ano daw yun?
ME (in a small voice): Yung inorder ko.
ALVIN (in a loud voice): May binili ka na naman?!
ME: Hayaan mo na Babe. Ito ang tulong ko sa ekonomiya.
Tapos parang deadma na lang. Hahaha!
Note to self: Dapat wag dumating ang shopping deliveries when Alvin is at home.
And because of the weight gain, I needed to buy new office clothes. I’m always in dresses because my pants do not fit me anymore. I can’t go to the site naman in dresses. Tinabi ko na yung mga pants na hindi ko na maangat sa hips ko. Lumuwag ng sobra yung closet rack ko ng mga pants, mga bakla. Mga 1/4 na lang ang natira. Yung mga naiwan pa are the garterized wide legged pants that I bought from Kokoandvan and Uniqlo. I bought a large sized pants from Uniqlo last week. Suot ko today kasi magsite ako. Ang ginhawa. Nakakadaloy yung dugo sa legs ko plus hindi parang magbubuhol buhol ang intestines ko sa sikip. Grabe, I’ve gone to size small to large in 2 months. I gotta watch what I eat.
Anyway, last weekend, I went to the grocery to buy Wowa butter for her baking needs and Rexona “deodorizer”. Naconfuse ako. May air freshener na ba ang Rexona?
ME: Ma, yung Rexona pang tao ba or pang bahay?
She sent me a photo of a deodorant.
ME: Deodorant kasi yan. Hindi deodorizer.
WOWA: Deodorant nga hayyzt.
Kaloka.
We don’t allow Wowa to go out of her condo eh. Super risky. Ayun bake na lang siya ng bake.
I went to SM Aura for groceries. Walang tao at 8am. Maluwag. I love it. I’m scared to go to the grocery nowadays. I know a lot of people who have Covid but the only place they went to is to the grocery. I buy na lang our stuff from Janis’ mini grocery in our village. Or nagpapadeliver ako sa Puregold. However, hindi kumpleto ang nabibili ko. Iba pa din ang actually going to the grocery store.
Like that time, all I needed to buy for the house was laundry soap and cooking oil. Pagdating ko sa cashier, Php 3,000 ang bill ko. I see things there sa aisles kasi that we need pala. Hindi lang namin alam. Kaya ayun.
After grocery shopping, I waited a bit inside the car for the mall to open. I needed to buy Anika things from National Bookstore. After that, I checked out the sunglasses shop at the 4th level. Nagtanong ako if they sell Gentle Monster. Peg ko kasi si Seri and si Moon Young. Negative daw so I went back na to the car to go home. On the way to the parking lot, I passed by Healthy Options. I saw they have a sign outside their store. Bawal daw pumasok yung mga naka-mask na may vent. It protects kasi the wearer but it doesn’t protect the people around them. Oh, I see. Hindi ko yun alam ah. Now we know.
After that, I went home na.
The day before that, I was at the palengke to buy vegetables and fruits. Don’t worry, walang tao sa palengke na ito especially early in the morning. It’s beside our church. Open air din siya and hindi masikip. Na-judge lang ako ng slight dun.
ME: Ate, san po yung kangkong?
She pointed me to a rack with a lot of leafy veggies. I got one and put it in my basket.
ATE: Hindi kangkong yan.
ME: Ah sorry. Alin po yung kangkong dito?
I finally got the right kangkong after she pointed it to me sa rack. And then I heard her whisper sa katabi niya, “Hehe, hindi niya alam ano yung kangkong.”
Sorry nemen! They all look alike!
Yung lettuce at cabbage nga nadistinguish ko lang, may asawa na ako eh.
Kaya medyo may trauma ako ng slight every time Lyn will ask me to buy kakaibang vegetables like gabi, sigarilyas and upo. Nalilito ako sa gabi, turmeric and (dati) luya. May fear ako na majudge nina Aling Tindera. Pero walang choice eh. Tanga talaga ako sa palengke but I came a long way na since I got married. Kung may board exams ang pagpalengke, I will pass it na ngayon compared to before I married Alvin.
Yung linga nga, sesame seeds pala yun!
LADY: Pabili nga ng linga.
Napatingin ako. Inabangan ko ano ibibigay ni Aling Tindera. Inabutan niya ng sesame seeds.
ME: Ah yan po pala yung linga.
LADY: Oo. Ito yung nilalagay sa palitaw. Bakit?
ME: Nasa Bahay Kubo kasi po yan eh.
Natawa si Ate eh.
Still so many things to learn kahit 40 years old na ako.
